Each year Cimarron Electric
Cooperative sets out on a mission to visit all 3rd grade classes in
our nine county service area. Through our 45-minute program, we are
able to take electrically uneducated kids and turn them into Safety
Rangers.
Here's how our program works. We
first present a fifteen minute video, “Zap Rap,” showing the
benefits and safety precautions associated with electricity. After
the video we answer questions the kids might have and then
demonstrate what can happen if electricity is not respected. We are
able to do this with our portable electric farm set and a neon man
by the name of Willie Wirehand. After the program we hand out
coloring books for each of the kids containing more information on
electric safety. They can color these books and then take them home
to their parents where they can share what they've learned with the
rest of the family. We offer this program any time during the school
year. If you are a 3rd grade teacher in Kingfisher, Blaine, Logan,
Garfield, Major, Canadian, Dewey, Custer & Oklahoma counties and
would like to schedule Cimarron Electric to visit your class, please
contact us.
